Keyboard

Keyboard layout is selected between Bulgarian and Greek from the dropdown menu Texts. Choice of layout is the first step before one enters the sought pattern of signs. The keyboard contains all the alphabet letters as well as special and punctuation signs. The Bulgarin layout is close to "BG-Phonetic", and the Greek one - to "Polytonic Keyman". The keys are pressed either using the mouse (virtual keys) or directly from the computer keyboard. The "Cap" key switches to capital letters. In order to accomodate more signs the keyboard operates in two states: initial and modified. The Bulgarin keyboard is modified with "Caps Lock" and enters above-line letters after pressing "Ctrl". The Greek keyboard is modified with "Tab" and returns to initial state with "Ctrl". While in initial state, accents and breathings are entered in two steps: first, some of the keys "~", "1" etc up to "0" is pressed to modify the highest row of keys, and after that, by pressing again, the desired letter is entered.

Search range

Search range is selected from the dropdown menus Chapters, Translations, Copies. The range limits the search only to the words contained in the selected Chapter, Translation, Copy. If All is selected in these menus, the search range will include all chapters, translations, copies, respectively. In the nest entitled "Search range", the chapters, translations, copies that the search engine currently queries are enumerated.

Search, wildcards

After it is typed-in, the wished pattern of letters and above-line signs is confirmed with the key "Enter". Except letters and above-line signs the pattern may contain the punctuation signs dot, hyphen or comma as wildcards. Any other signs are ignored. The pattern cannot be shorter than two signs.

The wildcards within the pattern have the following meaning:

The dot wildcard may stay for any single letter of above-line sign. It may be used at one or more places throughout the pattern.

The dash stays for zero or more letters of above-line signs It is used at one more places, but it may not be at two adjacent positions.

The comma wildcard divides the pattern in effectively two patterns, each of themm sought independently. It is used at one more places, but it may not be at two adjacent positions.

With the help of these three wildcards it is convenient to serch for similar word forms, words having common root and words with similar prefixes and suffixes.

Wildcards: examples

ада (single word); ада- (starting with ада); -ме (ending with ме); а-д-м-ь (starting with а, containing д and м and ending with ь); -а-д- (containing а and д); -а-д-ь (containingа and д, but ending with ь); ..а-д- (third letter is а and containing д); .а...м-е- (sewcond letter is а, sixth is м and containing е); -м-лен.. (containing м, лен and two more letters); -м. (м is last but one); -.м (м is last); .ав,сить (starting with a letter and ав or ending with сить);

Peculiarities

Bulgarian alphabet: If the sought pattern contains only lowercase letters, the words containing these letters as above-line letters are also found. If the pattern contains above-line letters, only words with the above-line letters are found. Greek alphabet: If the sought pattern contains only letters without diacritics, the words containing diacritics are found as well. If the pattern contains letters with diacritics, just the words with these diacritics are found only.

Words

The found words tht contain the sought pattern emerge listed in alpha betic order in three columns. If a word has been found more than once, behind it the number of occasions is printed. All punctuation signs participating in the chapters texts are ignored when the query is performed. For this reason, as an exception, certain weird non-existing words may spring up such as words with partially illegible (missing) letters that are written with [...] in the chapters texts. In order to avoid loading of too many words, initially their number is limited to 90. If the option Limit is unchecked this precaution is dropped and all the words found are loaded upon a second pressing "Enter".

Words in context

Clicking at a found word opens a new browser window where this word is presented within the context of the chapters it has been found in.

Remarks

1. If a special sign is erroneously typed, a warning "Pattern not allowed" pops up.
2. If a forbidden pattern is selected, then after pressing key "Enter", a warning "Forbidden pattern" is displayed.
3. If in the selected serch range there are no words containing the sought pattern, a message that no words were found is displayed.
4. The initial loading of the keyboard signs and the found words may take some time. When using the same keyboard layout again or searching for the same words, the load-up time is smaller. •
